Couple’s Counselling

As well as being qualified in individual therapy, I have trained at post graduate level with Relate, and offer relationship counselling.

Couples counselling is for couples who are married, living together or in a civil partnership, from any orientation, and may also be relevant for a couple considering taking their relationship to the next level.

Counselling can also be for siblings, colleagues, parent and (adult) child, or friends.

The focus in the sessions will be on you both together, instead of individually. The counsellor acts as a mediator, being non-judgemental and listening and reflecting on both people, creating a safe, neutral environment for you both to express your feelings and be heard.

You must both make a commitment to the sessions, and to each other. Be patient, listen, and also talk - the counselling will only truly work if it is only one sided.

Our relationships with those around us are extremely important, whether they are with our partners, family and friends or work colleagues. Problems in your relationships can cause a lot of pain and heartache. Sometimes we may find ourselves isolated and lonely but not knowing how to become more connected to other people. Understanding how you relate to others and what you can do to improve this area of your life is an essential skill that you can learn through professional counselling.
